POLICE LAUNCH CRACK DOWN ON SPEEDING ACROSS HERTFORDSHIRE

Drivers and motorcyclists are reminded to watch their speed as Hertfordshire Constabulary takes part in a national speed awareness week. The awareness and enforcement campaign runs from today, Monday 26 April, until Sunday 2 May. Neighbourhood policing teams will be carrying out proactive operations across the county to crack down on those who speed.

"It’s simple - the faster you are travelling, the more likely you or other road users are to being seriously injured or killed in a collision," commented Road Policing Sergeant Andrew Nayler, who is managing the campaign for the force. "It's always worth taking a couple of minutes longer on your journey than speeding and receiving a fine, points on your license or worse.

"We tackle speeding throughout the year, and it's an issue that comes top of the list of policing priorities for many residents. However, campaigns like this give us a great opportunity to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and remind motorists that both road policing officers and neighbourhood teams will be on the lookout for anyone putting themselves and other road users at risk."
