FRIENDS OF GILSTON WITH EASTWICK CHURCHES
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
MONDAY 21ST NOVEMBER
The villages of Eastwick and Gilston are supported by two beautiful Churches, St Mary Gilston, which dates back to medieval times, and St Botolph’s Eastwick, which was rebuilt on old ruins in the Victorian era.
The joint Parochial Church Council are looking to form a committee of
individuals, whose purpose will be to preserve and develop the fabric of these wonderful churches for future generations.
The inaugural meeting will be held on Monday 21st November in the village hall at Gilston, 7.30 for 7.45 pm, and refreshments will be available during the evening.
You do not have to be a regular member of the congregation to join us in this exciting new venture. Come along and share your ideas and experiences with us.
If you have any questions or require further information please ring Rev. Anthony Giles on 01279 726476.

Rev Anthony opened the meeting with prayer and welcomed all those present. He gave a background to the reason for creating the Friends of Gilston with Eastwick Churches ,and copies of the proposed constitution were distributed for consideration.
The only amendment raised was to remove the words “the virgin” from line three of the purpose of the constitution. This was agreed by all present.
It was then proposed by Michael Shaw and seconded by Roger Burridge to accept the constitution document. This was agreed unanimously.
It was disappointing that only one village resident had attended, even though the background to the meeting had been advertised in the village magazine.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
As this group is to be independent of the PCC, it is not possible at this stage to make permanent appointments other than to the post of President, therefore Rev Anthony Giles, as Priest in charge ,would take up this role.
