YOUR LAST CHANCE TO SAVE THE GILSTON - EASTWICK - HUNSDON GREEN BELT    October 18, 2017

Your last chance to save the Gilston - Eastwick - Hunsdon Green Belt

On the morning of Wednesday, 8th November the government-appointed Examiner will be considering in detail Chapter 11 of the East Herts’ District Plan which deals exclusively with their proposals (in reality Places for People [PfP]’s proposals) for the Gilston Area. East Herts planners will, doubtless, continue to tell the Examiner these proposals have been developed with the support of the local community; this is important for them because it is a requirement of the government’s Garden Towns initiative.
HEGNP has made it abundantly clear to East Herts Council that it has overwhelming concerns about the impact on local villages—specifically the loss of Green Belt, the absence of demonstrable plans to provide adequate infrastructure and the inevitable gridlock of local transport. These are the concerns that emerged when we held a genuine consultation recently with the local community rather than the stage-managed events put on by PfP which provided no answers to any meaningful questions. HEGNP has been working over the past weeks with consultants to collate and prepare these concerns in preparation for their professional presentation to the Examiner on 8th November.
We need to impress on the Examiner the truth about local concerns over the Gilston Area. Please help us in this; to overcome transport concerns, HEGNP will be arranging (free) coaches to take residents to the Examination in Public at EHC’s offices in Hertford on 8th November. Our purpose is twofold; firstly to demonstrate to the Examiner, EHC, PfP and the local press the absence of local support for the proposals, and secondly to provide for those who genuinely want to observe the discussion.

PLEASE GO TO www.hegnp.org.uk FOR DETAILS OF THE COACHES AND TO BOOK A SEAT OR, IF YOU DON'T HAVE INTERNET CONNECTION, CALL 01279 635198 (EASTWICK & GILSTON) OR 01279 842783 (HUNSDON).  SAVE OUR GREEN BELT!!

CONSULTATION ON THE FUTURE OF CHILDREN CENTRES    July 30, 2017

Hertfordshire County Council has launched a formal consultation on the future of children’s centre, health visiting and school nursing services. The purpose of the consultation is to consult the views of service users, staff and key partners, on the development of ‘Family Centres’ in Hertfordshire. As this may be relevant to your work we would like to encourage you to have your say by completing the consultation, and promoting it to any colleagues or families you may work with.

The link to the consultation is: www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/familycentreconsultation

The consultation will close on Wednesday 20 September 2017, and the county council will be proactively encouraging residents to complete the survey through attending a variety of family events over the summer and promoting the consultation via social media.

Should you have any further queries or comments, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via our central email address: familycentres@hertfordshire.gov.uk

   NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH    June 6, 2017

Eastwick and Gilston

Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Neighbour,

Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention

Initiatives ever. Now involving more than 120,000 households in Hertfordshire, it is based on the simple idea that you and your neighbours can help to reduce crime and create a safer and better place to live, work and play. It is also a means of keeping an eye on the vulnerable, elderly and disabled.

The OWL system is a personal computer based alerting system to provide communities with a timely warning of local crime. It is invaluable when a distraction burglary takes place or a bogus caller is reported in the neighbourhood, to warn residents of recent serious crimes in the locality or if a suspicious car is seen outside a school. Alerts and crime prevention advice will be sent to you by electronic mail, from the local policing team.

Also joining the Neighbourhood Watch Scheme is free and some insurance companies offer reductions on house insurance if you are a member.

Join Neighbourhood Watch and encourage your neighbours to join too. It’s a proven deterrent to burglars. Email: wlo@herts.pnn.police.uk

Yours sincerely

Terry Morris

Watch Liason Officer
